Minecraft: OP rights assigned
Assigning OP rights
You want to give yourself or other people on your Minecraft gameserver op rights?
Then open the server console from your gameserver.
You can find the console in our server administration "GSM" under the tab "Console".
Now the live console should open, you can see an input field. Here all sent commands were send to your gameserver.
To give you op rights you have to enter the following command into the input field:
op USERNAME
After that the gameserver should return the following:
[12:41:12] [Server thread/INFO]: Made USERNAME a server operator
Now you have full admin rights on your gameserver and can manage it.
OP Rights Level
In Minecraft, OP rights are divided into different levels, with Level 4 being the default. These levels define the permissions of players who take on administrative tasks on a server. The higher the level, the more commands a player can execute.
Here is an overview of the different OP rights levels:
Level | Rights and Commands |
---|---|
1 | Players at this level can use basic moderation commands such as /kick to remove players from the server or /ban to ban players. |
2 | This level includes all commands from Level 1 and additional commands like /give to grant items and /teleport to teleport players. |
3 | Players at this level have access to all Level 2 commands as well as additional commands like /weather to change the weather and /time to set the time of day. |
4 | This is the highest OP rights level. Players with this level have unrestricted access to all commands, including critical server commands like /stop to shut down the server and /op to grant other players operator rights. |
To assign permissions more precisely to your players on your gameserver, we recommend installing a permissions plugin on your Java gameserver, such as LuckPerms.
