How does the Pay-as-you-use Traffic flatrate work?
Introduction
Our offered gameservers include a certain amount of free traffic. You can view this during the ordering process or in our docs entry Included Traffic Overview. Our traffic flatrate allows for flexible billing based on the actual traffic used, in case you need more traffic than what's included in your free allotment.
What is Traffic (Network Traffic) and How Does It Arise?
Traffic between a gameserver and the players on it occurs because the server continuously exchanges data with the players to synchronize the gameplay in real-time.
When a player performs actions in the game, such as breaking blocks, moving, or interacting with other players, this information is sent to the server. The server processes the data and then sends the updated information back to all players so that everyone sees the same game state.
This continuous data exchange generates the so-called network traffic, which is necessary to ensure a smooth and precise gaming experience for all participants. The more players on the server and the more complex the game world, the more traffic is generated.
Activate Pay-As-You-Use Traffic Flatrate
The Pay-As-You-Use Traffic Flatrate allows for flexible billing based on the actual traffic used.
This Flatrate can be activated at any time in the GSM under the "Traffic" tab. However, billing only occurs once the included traffic has been used up.
The cost is 0.3 TuxTokens per started gigabyte of traffic used, and billing is done daily at midnight. You can view your current data usage at any time in the GSM under the "Traffic" tab.
Traffic Flatrate billing
The billing for traffic usage is processed daily at midnight. If our system is unable to deduct the outstanding traffic costs from your account, your gameserver will be suspended.
You can unlock your gameserver yourself by clicking the button in the notification within the GSM to pay the outstanding traffic costs. Please make sure your account has enough TuxTokens to cover the unpaid traffic fees.
